This questionary was based on possibilities and satisfaction with momentarily services in this area. Results: It was found that all interviewed stables are offering horseback riding for beginners and advanced riders. One of the stables offers also mediation of veterinary and farrier services. Another offered service in all stables is stabling itself, in boxes or in a grazing form. Two of the stable owners offer accomodation in apartments, third owner offers camping in tents or in the open-air. All stable owners and also 9 of 15 respondents, would appreciate update of the maps of hippotouric routes in the Central Bohemian Uplands. The questionaire survey found, that 60% of riders would pay between 400-500 CZK for 2 hours of horseback riding. Interviewees also use next services offered by the stable owners,...
Horse riders postural stability in relation with riding style
Jandová, Karla ; Stupková, Michaela (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title of the thesis: Horse riders postural stability in relation with riding style. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate dynamic postural stability of horse riders and the impact of the riding style, aditional sports and the naturally croockedness using NeuroCom Smart Equitest System Method: This comparative quantitative experimental study used 14 riders aged 18-36 that were divided into two groups, modern competing dressage riderds (n=7) and classical dressage riders (n=7). All probands underwent the same battery of tests at the Laboratory of applied kinesiology of Charles University, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. Seven test of Neurocom Smart Equitest were performed as follows: Senzory Organization Test, Motor Control Test, Adaptation Test, Unilateral Stance, Limits of Stability, Rythmic Weight Shift, Weight Bearing Squat Test. The data were processed by NeuroCom Balance Manager Software. The statistics were made by Sharpiro-Wilk normality test and the Cohen d tes was used to set the clinical signifikance. Results: The classical dressage riders performed better in most of the tests. The modern dressage riders dominated in the MTC test, here the reaction for the backward shift was clinically significant (ES=1,2). When comparing the riders who regurally ride multiple horses...
The Horse and Its Rider: Enacting the Actors of the Interaction
Ožanová, Sarah ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Balon, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the horse-human relationship. It strives for answering the question how horse and human enact within this relationship and mutual interaction as the actors, which means active subjects that can participate in the relationship. The text tries to analyse how this relationship is influenced by other non-humans, such as the objects in the stable or the literature about horses. The text explores this through the lens of chosen theoretical and methodological concepts (the multispecies ethnography, Eduardo Kohn's anthropology of life or anthropology beyond the human, Donna Haraway's research of the non-humans and especially Bruno Latour's symmetrical anthropology and actor-network theory) that reach beyond the human and contain animals, objects and other non-humans. The research is based on participant observation and semi-structured interviews with the stable member. The analysis shows that the conditions of the horse-human relationship are mostly defined by the human. The human sets up the barriers within witch the horse can interfere partly (and probably unintentionally) in the mutual relationship by its reactions. The lifeless non-humans can substitute the human role of restricting the horse in this relationship. They can also reflect or reproduce certain notions or...

The meaning and realization of hippotherapy and horseback riding on the visually impaired people
ŠMEJKALOVÁ, Michala
The bachelor thesis is focused on the importance and execution of hippotherapy and horse riding with regard to visually impaired people. Hippotherapy is one of therapeutic and formative methods used in the field of special education. Hippotherapy is aimed at positively influencing movement habits and muscle dysfunctions, experiencing, behaviour and the overall socialization process of individuals with special needs using horses. Visual impairments limit people, in particular, in their access to information and self-reliant mobility. Hippotherapy and horse riding may positively contribute to development of skills that compensate the above described limits, thus improving their personal development and quality of life. The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to carry out qualitative analysis based on existing knowledge in the design of a case study describing the importance and specifics of execution of hippotherapy and horse riding with regard to visually impaired people. In order to achieve the formulated objective, data were collected by means of analysis of documents, in-depth interviews and observations. The way of sampling was intended in line with the method chosen. The sample was represented by a visually impaired person engaged in para-equestrianism, namely para-equestrian dressage at international level. A partial objective, formulated in line with the main objective, is to compile an overview of recommended measures relating to safe execution of hippotherapy or horse riding by people with visual impairment. The qualitative research indicated that hippotherapy and horse riding is of particular importance to visually impaired people in the area of self-reliant mobility and socialization process, thus positively influencing the individual's overall development and psyche. The thesis describes the specifics of execution of hippotherapy and horse riding with regard to visually impaired people. The comprehensive overviewof the matter may be used by people with visual impairment or institutions interested in hippotherapy and horse riding for visually impaired people.
Elektromyographic analysis of differences in selected excercises on pommel horse and riding horse
Pyšková, Barbora ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Žáková, Lenka (referee)
Author: Bc. et Bc. Barbora Pyšková Title: Elektromyographic analysis of differences in selected excercises on pommel horse and riding horse Objectives: The aim of the thesis was to measure the activity of selected muscles, expressed as the percentage value of the maximal voluntary contraction (MVC), during excercises performed by both males and females probands. The effect of treatment (on pommel horse vs riding horse) and proband sex on muscle activity was tested. Methods: Maximal voluntary contraction of each muscle (eight in total) was electromyographically measured in each proband, using the test according to Janda. These values were used as a standard to which the values obtained by excercising on pommel horse and riding horse were related. The values were averages of three repeated measurements. The effect of studied factors was tested by analysis of variance. Results: The tested hypotheses were confirmed. The muscle activity during excercises was statistically significantly affected by the factors studied, therefore the variation in measured values is not random. Muscle activity tended to be higher on riding horse than on pommel horse, and in females compared to males. Key words: horse riding, pommel horse, EMG, electromyography, hipotherapy, correct horse sit
